Greetings from the President
I would like to thank you in advance for taking the time to read this overview of SarTec's products and services. First, however, allow me to give you a brief introduction to SarTec Corporation. SarTec Corporation was founded in 1983. I was one of the co-founders and have been the sole owner since 1985. SarTec was founded with a mission statement to produce high quality Yucca-based products for agriculture. Our first product, which we introduced in 1983, was SarTemp®, a Yucca based grain conditioner for grain processing at beef feedlots (see 1.). University research, conducted prior to SarTec's founding, had established a gain and feed efficiency response to Yucca extract by beef cattle when fed as a constituent in their finishing rations (see 2., 3. and 4.). The concept we pursued was to combine the surfactant effects of the saponins in Yucca extract to increase the rate of moisture penetration of the grain and at the same time introduce Yucca extract into the ration for its effect on gain and feed efficiency. SarTec has obtained four US patents on the use of Yucca extract in a grain conditioner and is the only company today to own such intellectual property in the market (see 5., 6., 7. and 8.). Since the introduction of SarTemp® grain conditioner, SarTec Corporation has supported feeding studies at the University of California Davis (see 9. and 10.), University of Nebraska (see 11. and 12.) and Texas Tech University (see 13.). The effect of SarTec Corporation's products on gain and feed efficiency averages from 3-5% and is well documented.
SarTec Corporation holds three US patents on its Computerized Grain Conditioning System (see 14., 15. and 15b.). This intellectual property includes the use of a modem to connect our computerized grain conditioning system to a SarTec central computer in Anoka, MN. Data from this link enables SarTec Corporation to produce a bi-monthly report for each of its customers documenting the system's operation (see 16.). Key information in the report includes the tons of grain processed, the standardizing moisture required to increase the incoming grain to the customer's selected target moisture, and the amount of SarTemp SG® added per ton of grain conditioned. This report allows the feedlot to reconcile the grain purchased and the grain delivered to the processed grain holding bin. The amount of SarTemp SG®contracted can also be reconciled with the amount purchased and the tons of grain processed. SarTemp SG® application rate is not a surprise number only to be discovered by a customer's inventory reconciliation program. The customer is always in control of the application rate of SarTemp SG®. This is simply not the case with many competitive products on the market.
For a customer who desires instantaneous grain processing management information SarTec has developed the SarView Grain Processing Management Tool (see 16b.). SarView is a first of its kind program that gives real-time grain processing information via modem hookup to show exactly what is going on in the feed mill. The feedlot owner, feedlot manager, mill manager, nutritionist or any other authorized user can access this secure information from a laptop while on the road or from a desktop computer at their office. Best of all SarView is available at no charge to all SarTec customers.
SarTec's Computerized Grain Conditioning System (see 17.) continuously weighs the grain entering the mixing auger. The system also continuously measures the moisture of the grain as it enters the mixing auger. This weighing device output, coupled with that of the moisture tester, permits the system to maintain the moisture of the conditioned grain to within 0.5% of the desired target at the end of the mixing auger. SarTec's Computerized Grain Conditioning System helps a feedlot's bottom line by reducing grain moisture variability (see 17b.) and by eliminating free water seepage in the soak tank (see 17c.).
SarTemp SG® is a non-acid, yucca-based natural grain conditioner. SarTec's Computerized Grain Conditioning System considers water addition and SarTemp SG® addition as two independent functions. The SarTemp SG® addition is based solely on the flow rate of grain entering into the mixing auger at any given point in time, and the target application rate would be 2.5 fluid ounces per ton of dry grain, for grain conditioning only, and at 5.5 fluid ounces per ton for effecting gain and feed efficiency. A processing report is supplied to the yard showing the exact amount applied per ton every 2 weeks (see 16. - sample SASI Report). Again this is a SarTec innovation that is unique to our system.
Description of Fully Automatic Computerized Equipment (in-brief):
Our SarComputer displays in real time the following information:
1. Grain flow in pounds per minute.
2. Actual moisture being achieved.
3. Target moisture the operator desires to achieve.
4. Actual gallons per minute of water being added.
5. Target amount in gallons per minute of water called for by the computer.
6. Application rate of SarTemp SG® in cc's per minute.
The SarComputer is password protected; therefore in order to change a computer parameter, the operator must know the password. This provides security and, additionally, computer parameters cannot be accidentally changed. The modem within the SarComputer allows us to instantaneously trouble shoot the system and downloads processing data on a daily basis. These confidential daily downloads are compiled into an easy to read report which is distributed (mailed, emailed, faxed or dropped off by a SarTec Corporation Representative) at the feed yard automatically twice per month. Additional reports can be generated upon request for any period of time. See sample SASI Report (16.).
SarTec Corporation installs, maintains and services the equipment. Electrical supply, water supply and any millwright work needed to connect the SarComputer and SarMeter locations would be the responsibility of the feedyard. Both a SarTec Corporation service and delivery technician visits the feedlot monthly. A feedlot's employees, at their convenience, free of charge, can reach SarTec's technical service personnel by calling 800-472-7832 within the US. SarTec's technicians could be at a Feedlot within a few hours of their call for service. In many cases, adjustments can be made from the SarTec's Headquarters by use of a modem. SarTec's most valuable asset is its team of loyal and dedicated employees.

Receiving, Starting and Finishing (RSF) Program
SarTec’s Receiving, Starting and Finishing (RSF) Program (see 25c. and 25d.) is a nice addition to your receiving process. Documented research supports using Yucca at receiving and throughout the feeding program. A recent feeding trial conducted at Kansas State University further demonstrates these findings (see 25e. and 25f.). For more information about the RSF Program please call 800-472-7832 within the US, or contact your local SarTec representative (see 25g.).
Anti-Protozoal Treatment (APT) Program for Dairies
SarTec has completed many successful dairy trials incorporating the new patent-pending Anti-Protozoal Treatment (APT) Program (see 26.). Results indicated a statistically significant increase in milk production (P < 0.01). An article from the Texas Dairy Review briefly explains the effect of saponins on rumen protozoa (see 27.).
SarGreen - Automatic Fertilization System
Fertigation is the ultimate in combining soil fertility and irrigation in a single, automatic process. The benefits of fertigation have been well recognized in the irrigation industry and include more efficient use of fertilizer, less runoff and a more consistent fertilizer delivery. Fertigation is widely used in agriculture as well as on golf courses. The SarGreen automatic fertilization system enables fertigation for both commercial and home use (see 28.). This system is the most advanced and reliable product yet to provide homeowners the opportunity to have a beautiful lawn while reducing the amount of fertilizer and water to maintain it.
This is a bird's eye view of our products and equipment. I have linked research summaries, patents, labels, and brochures on our products and equipment to flesh out the details. If you have additional questions please call me at 800-472-7832.
